The picture above is from a volunteer trip with my school to Nepal. We helped clean, plaint, and garden it. This was my 8th grade year when I lived in Dubai.
Volunteering
Junior Year
I really enjoyed the feeling I got when I volunteered, so this year I wanted to get even more involved. My stepmom and I went on a week long trip solely to volunteer in Sri Lanka. We paid to stay in a local family's home and did various projects such as teaching young girls English, helping at an orphanage, and assisting teachers in teaching kids with mental disabilities. I got 28 hours in the 4 days I worked. I am got 100 hours this year, and gained a green cord for graduation. Back in my hometown Colorado Springs, I do various weekend projects and found one place in particular that I go more often, care and share.
Sophomore Year
I decided to get more involved in my community this year. I joined Key Club at my school, a volunteer club, and sought to do good for others. I mainly worked with the local elementary school, Stetson Elementary, to tutor kids in math and reading. I did this once a week for an hour. I also did weekend projects like Springs Rescue Mission where we fed the homeless, and local school projects like Howl-O-Ween and campus clean-up.
